Nord Stream 2 is not the answer to the current Gas crisis…

Bringing in more Gas from Russia is NOT the long-term answer to energy issues in the UK. The project, finally finished last month, has been controversial since it’s inception. The current Gas crisis is giving Nord Stream 2 it’s moment to shine as politicians panic about ways to cut costs down and keep the lights on. But increasing our reliance on Russia to stop forecasted blackouts is not seen by most energy experts or politicians as a long-term solution.

The UK’s recent announcement to produce zero-carbon electricity by 2035 “is an excellent first step towards ending the imported gas addiction.”

The key message from this is that it doesn’t look like the market is settling anytime soon. Prices are continuing to climb across the curve.
